Third-party logistics company and freight broker Hub Group’s fourth-quarter profit rose 33% to a record $18 million, or 47 cents per share, up from $13.5 million, or 34 cents, a year earlier.

Heavy equipment and diesel engine manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. said its fourth-quarter profit rose 11% to $975 million, or $1.50 per share, from $882 million, or $1.32, a year ago.

Truckload carrier Heartland Express said Thursday its fourth-quarter profit fell 15% to $16.6 million, or 17 cents a share, from $19.6 million, or 20 cents, a year earlier.

Heavy-duty vehicle parts manufacturer Eaton Corp. said Tuesday its fourth-quarter net earnings rose 8%, and the company boosted its dividend too.

Union Pacific Corp. cut its earnings forecast for the fourth quarter, citing higher diesel fuel costs and a delay in recovering its fuel surcharges.

Trailer Bridge Inc. said Wednesday it earned $364,813 or 3 cents a share in the third quarter, compared with $1.9 million or 16 cents a year ago.

Express-1 Expedited Solutions said Thursday it earned $499,000 or 2 cents a share in the third quarter, down from with $905,000 or 3 cents last year.

Kansas City Southern railroad said its third-quarter earnings jumped 58%, as it handled more autos, coal and chemicals.
