LOS ANGELES — President Joe Biden signed an executive order on artificial intelligence that seeks to ensure the infrastructure needed for advanced AI operations can be built quickly and at scale.

President-elect Donald Trump is likely to maintain new U.S. limits on global sales of AI chips by Nvidia Corp. and others, a top Biden administration official said.

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is proposing a new framework for the exporting of the advanced computer chips used to develop artificial intelligence.

Automakers pulled out all the stops to showcase their latest advances for in-vehicle experiences at CES, the Consumer Technology Association’s annual trade show of all things tech.

The plan includes a pledge to create 100,000 jobs focused on artificial intelligence and related infrastructure, including investments in data centers, semiconductors and energy.

The steps are the latest as Biden races to tie off key files before he leaves office. Trump is preparing a flurry of orders that could take aim at key planks of the Biden agenda.

The latest tool comprises Samsara Assistant, a generative AI tool that provides instant answers to questions, and Intelligent Experiences, which offers AI-driven recommendations.
