A California company that matches local loads with trucks via an app has received $8 million in additional funding from investors, including several in the trucking industry, it announced Jan. 29.

Pegasus TransTech has released a new smart phone application that drivers can use to accept loads, receive and send messages to their fleets and scan documents.

The fledgling load-matching service Cargomatic is bidding to capitalize on unused capacity in local trucking markets by using a wireless or smart-phone application, beginning with Southern California.
