YRC Worldwide Inc. reported a $44.4 million loss, or $4.45 per share, in the third quarter, compared with net income of $3 million, or 40 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.

Arkansas Best Corp. more than doubled third-quarter earnings to $14 million, or 52 cents per share, sparked by improved results at both the ABF Freight System less-than-truckload unit and other services.
