Daimler AG said Tuesday it will bundle its Asian truck business and make Fuso and BharatBenz brand trucks in India for export to Asia and Africa as early as the second quarter of this year.
Stuttgart, Germany-based to help meet that country’s booming truck market, under the BharatBenz name.
Daimler’s Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp., is based in Kawasaki, Japan, and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. is based in Chennai.
“With the Asia business model, we are bringing our operations to the next level in order to support our existing and new customers with the right products and the best service in Asia and Africa,” said Albert Kirchmann, president of Mitsubishi Fuso and CEO of Daimler Trucks Asia.
Last week, to help boost its commercial vehicle business in that country.
Daimler makes Freightliner and Western Star brand trucks in North America.
