has announced a Pennsylvania-based wholesale distributor of engineered wood products is investing $18.7 million to build a distribution center there to serve four states.

“When companies like choose to establish operations in South Carolina, it’s a win for our people, the community and the entire state,” McMaster said Feb. 19. “Eastern’s $18.7 million investment is great news for Anderson County, and we congratulate the company on this new distribution operation.”

Delivering engineered wood products for building materials dealers and lumberyards along the East Coast, Eastern Engineered Wood Products’ new distribution center will be in Belton, which is 35 miles from both Greenville and Greenwood. The new location also is about a 90-minute drive from Charlotte, N.C., and Atlanta.

“Eastern’s commitment to creating an exceptional customer experience ensures that customers can expect accurate, on-time delivery of pieces, job packs or truckloads in one to two days,” the company said. “Roughly 80% of our orders arrive in our customers’ yards within the next business day.”

The center will service lumber dealers and component manufacturers in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Operations are expected to start later this year with full completion early in 2026.

“South Carolina’s premier location makes it the perfect place for distribution companies to move products efficiently to customers,” state Commerce Secretary Harry Lightsey III said. “Congratulations to Eastern Engineered Wood Products and Anderson County on this announcement.”

noted, “Establishing this new location … is an exciting next step in our growth and expansion strategy. We have long recognized the need for our products and services in the Southeast, and the upstate of South Carolina is the ideal area from which to support that need. Support from the state and local authorities has been tremendous, and we look forward to working together as we grow our operation.”

The company, founded in 1998, also provides technical services for customers such as product placement drawings and specifications. It produces more than 3,000 product placement drawings yearly.

The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $100,000 grant to Anderson County to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction.

“We are excited and grateful for the job creation and investment that will add to our ever-growing economy,” county Councilman Greg Elgin said. “Anderson County is committed to a strong partnership with our industries and will do what we can to help them succeed.”
