Mack Invests $14.5 Million in Roanoke Valley Expansion

Mack Trucks is investing $14.5 million to in Roanoke, Va., the company announced Feb. 9.
The Roanoke Valley Operations manufacturing facility will be updated to better handle demand for the Mack MD Series and Mack MD Electric vehicles. announced the investment during an event at the facility.
“Mack Trucks’ expansion further strengthens Virginia’s manufacturing industry ecosystem, which is a core focus of the commonwealth’s economic development strategy,” Youngkin said. “We are proud that Mack Trucks’ initial investment in a new Roanoke County operation four years ago has yielded a second major investment. This is truly another voice of confidence in Virginia by a global industry leader.”
Mack said the investment will go toward equipment, tooling and a 72,000-square-foot building expansion, bringing the total to 352,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in April and be finished by the fourth quarter next year.

Youngkin already had approved a $255,000 grant for the project from the Commonwealth Opportunity Fund. Roanoke County also offered a package of incentives totaling $842,420. The project is expected to result in 51 additional jobs.
