The national average diesel price dropped for the fifth consecutive week, falling 4.6 cents to reach $3.848 a gallon, according to data released May 13.

Highlights

• The average price for a gallon of diesel has come down 21.3 cents since it was $4.061 on April 8.
• A gallon of diesel on average costs 4.9 cents less than it did at this time in 2023.
• The average diesel price went down in nine of the 10 region in , with the exception being an increase of sixth-tenths of a cent in the Rocky Mountain area.
• Three regions had decreases of at least 5 cents, the highest being 5.8 cents in the Gulf Coast.
• Gasoline shed 3.5 cents a gallon on average to settle at $3.608. That's 7.2 cents more than it cost at this time a year ago.
