BAE Systems, Eaton Collaborate on Electric Drive Solutions

to develop an integrated electric vehicle system for medium-duty trucks, the companies announced May 1.

The companies will initially offer a solution for the medium-duty commercial truck platform market. They already have a Class 7 pickup and delivery demonstration vehicle in development.

Their aim is to provide equipment manufacturers with a durable, high-performance, compact, efficient and optimized system that is flexible enough to work with multiple EV platforms.

BAE Systems will incorporate its power-dense electric motor and advanced silicon carbide/gallium nitride power electronics suite with Eaton’s MD 4-speed EV transmission to provide an EV system for medium-duty vehicles as part of the collaboration.
